FAQ

How many resources are in the game?
Captain's Devlog #3 and #4 both cite more than 55 unique resources. Devlog #4 adds UI tooltips showing where items can be found or produced—mechanic confirmed, not a full public list.
Which resources are officially named?
Devlog #3 explicitly lists Polyalloy, Duranium, Dutronic Chips, and Memory Banks as examples spanning industry and science tiers.
What upkeeps do buildings need besides materials?
Devlog #3 states buildings require water, power, and compute, and that pipes and conduits consume physical space on your grid.
Where are full crafting recipes?
Not in official devlogs we indexed for launch week. Competitor wikis also disclaim complete recipe coverage. We omit chains until sourced.

How many resources does Outposts Unknown have?

Magic Fuel cites more than 55 unique resources that must move through the full industrial loop:

researched → harvested → refined → combined → transported → used

Devlog #4 (pre-launch) highlights tooltip work so hovering a resource can show where it is found or produced—evidence the live game expects you to manage complexity, not memorize a static web table.

Which resource names are confirmed officially?

Devlog #3 gives four exemplar items spanning metals, alloys, and science components:

Name Role in official copy
Polyalloy Example advanced material in the long resource list
Duranium Structural/industrial metal tier example
Dutronic Chips Electronics / science processing example
Memory Banks Data-tier science example

We do not extend this into a full alphabetized catalog or infer Polyalloy’s inputs without screenshots.

What are water, power, and compute?

Devlog #3 treats them as building upkeeps, not optional flavor:

  • Water feeds production and life-support chains (paired with food and medical logistics in guides).
  • Power energizes extractors, labs, and defenses—see logistics, power, water, and compute.
  • Compute covers data-heavy science or control buildings on the same conduit layer.

Because pipes and conduits occupy tiles, resource planning is literally spatial: a perfect refinery line fails if it crosses a power bottleneck or blocks expansion.

How do resources move between ship and planets?

Official Kourou material (Devlog #2) stresses interplanetary transfers when one world lacks a specialty another produces, while the Resonant supports operations until an outpost is self-sufficient. That macro loop sits above single-planet conveyors—use first outpost build order for surface basics and crew, shifts, and morale when hauls compete with sleep shifts.

What about recipes and chains?

For day-to-day survival—metal, food proteins, storage stalls—start with beginner guide and logistics, power, water, and compute instead of guessing mid-tier chemistry.
