FAQ

Is Daegus the first planet I play?
The June 2026 announcement says the demo explores lush Daegus with logistics, production chains, and crew management through early science. Full-game marketing still positions Daegus as the onboarding world before Kourou and Neral.
What biomes exist on Daegus besides the oasis?
Captain's Devlog #2 (August 2026) lists a temperate oasis, a rocky sun-baked desert, and dramatic crystal monument terrain on Daegus. It does not map each biome to specific resources in that post.
Do invasion roots cut power lines on Daegus?
Worldeka's October 2026 guide states aggressive root systems can spread toward settlements and threaten critical infrastructure including power conduits. We have not found the same sentence in official devlogs—treat conduit damage as single-source third-party until corroborated. Demo reviews also mention vine attacks and radiation flares outside shields.
What should I build before leaving Daegus?
Official text does not publish a departure checklist. Community guides suggest making the outpost self-sufficient—power, pad, metal, basic research—before interplanetary logistics in Devlog #2 matter. Use [/guides/first-outpost-build-order/](/guides/first-outpost-build-order/) as the mechanics baseline.
How does Daegus differ from Kourou?
Devlog #2 contrasts Daegus's mixed temperate terrain with Kourou's ice, volcanic badlands, and steam fields tied to Tetryon Rift hazards. Detailed Kourou steps belong on its own world page when verified.

What is Daegus in Outposts Unknown?

Daegus is the temperate, tutorial-friendly planet where Star Trek: Outposts Unknown teaches outpost logistics, crew shifts, and early research before you tackle harsher worlds in the X’Lehari System. Last verified: 2026-10-21 against the June 2026 demo announcement, Captain’s Devlog #2, Devlog #3, Worldeka’s launch guide, and Rock Paper Shotgun’s June 2026 demo report.

Playstack and Magic Fuel describe Daegus as lush, with resource management, production chains, and strategic planning in the demo’s first hours—not as a combat arena. That framing matters: your job is to stand up a research outpost under Starfleet’s agreement with the X’Lehari, not to terraform the entire hemisphere on day one.

What biomes and resources should you expect?

Devlog #2 is the clearest official map. It contrasts Kourou with Daegus, noting Daegus includes:

  • The temperate oasis seen in demo footage
  • A rocky desert of sun-baked stone
  • Crystal monument topography

Each zone is meant to offer different opportunities and risks as you expand, even on the “gentle” planet. Devlog #3 adds system-wide context: 55+ resources and upkeep networks (/guides/logistics-power-water-compute/) apply on Daegus the same as elsewhere, so biome variety is about where you place extractors, not whether pipes exist.

Official June 2026 tuning pointed the starting camera at a metal-rich area and sped Metal Collector output (demo patch notes). Use that hint for your first collector placement; we do not have a retail-only resource map.

What threats are confirmed versus still disputed?

Plant and environmental pressure

Claim Evidence strength Notes
Invasive plant growth can spread toward bases and stress infrastructure Single third-party source Worldeka (20 Oct 2026) mentions root systems and power conduits specifically.
Whip-like vines can attack ground teams during demo play Player feedback / hands-on Rock Paper Shotgun (8 Jun 2026) reports warp-touched vines engaging away teams—not identical wording to “invasion roots.”
Radiation flare-ups damage people/buildings outside shielding Player feedback / hands-on Same RPS demo piece; aligns with broader Tetryon themes in Devlog #1 shielding discussion.
Security Office helps defend against environmental threats Single third-party source Worldeka recommends tactical staff once tech exists; no matching sentence in cited devlogs.

System-level hazards (Tetryon Rift, Shield Emitters for some structures) come from Devlog #1 and apply beyond Daegus. Build shields when the story demands them; do not assume Daegus is radiation-free just because the oasis looks calm.

What is a sensible Daegus progression?

Official posts do not spell out a departure checklist. Use this source-aligned route instead:

  1. Land and survey — Demo patch reduced beacon requirements to one of three markers for the early explore goal (June 2026 notes).
  2. Core build order — Follow /guides/first-outpost-build-order/: Operation Center, power, Cargo Landing Pad, Metal Collector, then research buildings.
  3. Compact layout — Devlog #3 warns pipes consume tiles; Daegus is the place to learn tight cores before Kourou’s extremes (Devlog #2).
  4. Crew rhythm — Pair pad timing with /guides/crew-shifts-and-morale/; Daegus is where shuttle cycles teach the Resonant/surface split.
  5. Defense when unlocked — If invasive plants appear in your save, prioritize Security Office staffing per Worldeka’s recommendation, but verify the building exists in your tech tree before hard-planning.

When are you “done” with Daegus?

Devlog #2 and the official Kourou reveal frame the campaign as an outpost on each planet, reached from the U.S.S. Resonant: stand up one outpost, learn its logistics, then return to the ship to push toward the next planet. There is no official “100% complete” metric in the sources we cite.

Community guides suggest treating Daegus as training—self-sufficient power, metal, samples, and morale—before exporting materials through the interplanetary logistics layer Devlog #2 outlines. That advice is player strategy, not a quoted developer requirement.

What should you read before leaving orbit?

If you confirm or debunk conduit damage on retail Daegus, note the Steam build ID so we can upgrade the threat table from “single source” to verified.
